I always want to make people feel good when I meet them for the first time. But if you’re lacking energy, or the tips and tricks to make a stronger, positive impression.

When I was growing up, every time I would be sad or angry, my mom would force me to slap a smile on my face. She would say, “You can’t be sad if you are smiling.” 

Have you heard of Matthew McConaughy’s new book, Green lights? It’s a fantastic read. Here’s one of my favorite passages from the beginning of the book:

This seems like a pretty easy day to achieve, so why don’t I incorporate some of these things into my everyday life? Why don’t more of my days or weekends look like this? 

The next time someone cancels on you or you get told no, tell yourself…”It’s just the law of ratios! This was bound to happen…” And allow yourself to move on without stewing on the “why” of them dropping out so much.

I am in a hurry to wake up in the morning, to get everything I want to get done in a day, to get to work, and then I am in a hurry to get home and go to bed. All of my friends know me as “the busy one.” 

They examined the new habits of 96 people over the space of 12 weeks, and found that the average time it takes for a new habit to stick is actually 66 days; furthermore, individual times varied from 18 to a whopping 254 days.

Looking back, this seems like a somewhat silly situation to get so worked up about knowing what I know now. But at the time, I couldn’t see what God had in store. Nor could I trust that he was working tirelessly up there for Tyler and I’s future. I only saw what was happening at the moment. 

A few weeks ago I spent a few days in my hometown with my family and friends, and I made my way back to Fargo on a Wednesday evening… I parked my car in my driveway, and rushed inside to use the bathroom after a long car ride. I ran up the stairs and opened the toilet seat, and what do you know…

One day I checked my inbox and there was a “last call” email to enroll in the next 200 hour Holy Yoga training class. I decided it was the time so I jumped in and officially became an instructor in May of 2021…. But what I didn’t realize is that I wasn’t just becoming an instructor to add to my business but the transformation God had in store for me during that training was incredible.
