From the desk of Grace Lange,
You know that saying – What you think about, you bring about?
The past couple weeks have been a rough one for me, as I have been letting my negative thoughts control me…
I have always been an anxious person, but I could usually push through by staying busy, not allowing myself to sit and think, and by not really talking about it. Growing up I had severe stomach aches all the time, but no doctor could ever heal me…
I was tested for absolutely every allergy and every other thing under the sun… except anxiety.
I was constantly asking myself..
Why can’t I just relax and have fun?
It was always so hard for me to let go and be in the moment, because I had so many other things to think about.
I never allowed myself to just have fun.
More recently, though, Kelsey and I were sitting at the office discussing our upcoming Women’s Goal Setting Summit, and I was telling her how stressed I was and how I did not know how anything would work out…
Her and I constantly have the conversation about not worrying, because as women, we tend to sit and dwell on the negative, instead of celebrating our wins.
This particular time, Kelsey looked at me and said, “Grace, instead of focusing on all of the tasks and stressing about the things that need to be done, start focusing on how much fun you can have doing those things.”
This hit me like a ton of bricks.
I spend so much time looking at my to-do list that I forget to think about how exciting life is, or how much fun the work I am doing is.
One of my core values is FUN, but yet I struggle to find that in every day.
I knew something had to change, because I wasn’t allowing myself to enjoy the moment I was in… so I decided to schedule fun into my calendar!
I know this may sound forced or weird, but I know that when something is on my calendar, I stick to it. So, I put a reminder on my Google calendar to have fun everyday.
On Friday afternoons, I time-blocked a few hours of scheduled fun, where I get to spend my time doing something that makes me excited…
Have you ever thought about scheduling your fun?
It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day craziness, and we tend to forget how beautiful life is around us.
And if it really is true that what we think about we bring about, then let’s start thinking about having fun!
Life really is too short to not have a little freakin’ fun!
Oh.. and you know what is going to be SUPER FUN?!
