From the desk of Grace Lange,
For those of you who know me personally, you know that I have just graduated college!
I am so excited to be done with school and to be able to completely focus on my career.
This is not the easiest thing, though…
In addition to graduating, these past few weeks have been a roller coaster. You know that saying, “when it rains it pours”?
Well… it is POURING AND POURING HARD.
I’ve found myself saying to myself a lot… So now what should I do?
The world is my oyster, so they say.
For over 16 years of our lives we go to school and have the identity of a student, and now all of a sudden we are thrown into the real world and have to just figure it out…
But this got me thinking…
Once we enter the workforce, we automatically take on a new identity. Or whenever you get a new job you take on a new identity.
I am no longer Grace Lange the student, but I am Grace Lange the Creative Content Strategist…
Or you may go from Sarah the accountant to Sarah the manager.
Or maybe Becky the girlfriend to Becky the fiance.
Or let’s just say you get an awesome raise and you go from middle class to upper class.
No matter where we go or what we do, we always have an identity or a name attached to our name…
But what happens if you lose a job or you are in between work or you go through a divorce…
You lose your identity, because we put so much value on the things we do, not the person we are.
Now that I am not a student, I have found myself searching for something to fill that hole of my identity. But what if I just focused on filling that hole with more of myself?
Instead of thinking I need to be Grace Lange the founder, the volunteer, the creative content strategist, the coach…
What if I was just Grace Lange for once?
Do you struggle with finding your value in the things you do?
It is so enticing to want to accomplish things just to get another name after our own name… but when will just our name be enough?
Now don’t get me wrong, I still want to join organizations, work hard, and kick ass at this next chapter in my life, but I think the real value in life comes from just being who God made us and not putting our value in the things we do.
So today, just be YOU!!
P.S. This is me just being me at my best. Drinking a beer at a concert.. Doesn’t get better than this! 😉
And if you need someone to talk you through a transition or guide you through discovering who you actually are… I am here to help!
Let’s schedule a quick call, because I want to know how I can help you.
