From the desk of Kelsey Buell,
Have you ever sat down and written a list of all the people in your life?
When I started my own business, I began to more closely track my meetings and who I was meeting with.
On top of tracking those meetings, I would give each person a score.
I would score them on a scale of 1-3, with 1 being “I got great energy from this person” to 3 being “not so great energy.”
This may sound harsh, but when looking at who I gave my time to, I wanted to become more intentional around who I am spending my time with.
It’s critical that we pick and choose our friends wisely.
WHO’S IN YOUR ROOM?
This is actually a famous book that introduces you to the concept of your life being like a room—a room where anyone who enters affects your life . . . forever.
This might be a scary thought for some, but it’s an important idea to contemplate.
3 inspiring quotes about the importance of surrounding yourself with good people:
- People either inspire you, or they drain you. – Hans F. Hansen
- It’s better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you’ll drift in that direction.– Warren Buffett
- “The quality of a person’s life is most often a direct reflection of the expectations of their peer group.” – Tony Robbins
Like the first quote states, people can either give you great energy, or they can suck the life out of you.
If you find yourself feeling burned out, ask “Am I doing this to myself, or is this because someone else in my life is putting too much pressure on me?”
Often, other people influence our energy levels.
So who is in your room?
There is something powerful about getting the right women in the room at the same time…
Through our Resilience Multiplier Course starting in March, we do just that.
We fill our groups with women who want to see each other grow and better themselves…
Women who need others as much as they need them…
Women who will be there through the hard times and there to celebrate your successes!
